Core competences are analytics of contaminated soil and ­contaminated groundwater (incl. explosives), waste water, sewage water and the process control of biogas plants. In co-operation with scientific institutions alphacon is involved in a number of research projects.

Also quality management and certfication are parts of AquaEcology‘s portfolio. Environmental education is offered together with ecosystem analysis, water management, restoration concepts and execution of restoration projects. AquaEcology is member of different working groups of the German Bundesumweltsamt to develop water quality guidelines.

TriOS Mess- und Datentechnik is producer of optical sensors used for water monitorung. The sensors are self developed based on innovative optical methods to analyse parameters like nitrate, nitrite, COD, TOC, algae, diffusion and others without adding any chemicals for the analytical process. In addition to the sensors TriOS offers control systems and fully equiped measurement stations including data trans mission. Fields of application are oceanography, monitoring of surface water and drinking water, the monitoring of sewage water systems as well as industrial applications in car industry, refineries, power plants and others more.

The Fachhochschule Oldenburg/Ostfriesland/Wilhelmshaven has its main focus in the field of environmental sciences in the elimination of heavy metals using phyto remediation technologies. To analyse heavy metal concentrations in plants, hyperspectral sensores are developed. Furthermore technologies to treat and to control industrial waste water and leachates from landfills are under research. In the field of geoinformatics high precise digital 3D-models are used to simulate particular matter disposition and to calculate and to describe potential floods.

At the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, in the departments of natural sciences, research and teaching is provided in environmental analytics, biotechnology and ecotoxicology. Focuses are soil treatment, treatment of contaminated sediments, analysing and evaluating indoor pollution as well as development of methods for the detection of toxic effects of single substances and the combination of substances based on microbiological and cell culture technologies. The department of economic informatics works in the fields of operational information systems and sustainable reporting.
